Why I'm doing this

I spent my childhood in the worlds of fantasy and sci-fi books, always dreaming of exploration and some grand adventure.

But then I grew up. I got a job. It was stable, salaried. Safe.

It was also stale. And eventually, suffocating.

I had to get out. Where were the new lands to discover? Where was my dragon? It dawned on me that there was one last place you could still struggle, where you might be able to write your own story: the world of startups.

I worked at one VC-backed startup, then another, figuring I'd be a founder myself one day. But I watched the same thing happen every time. The relentless rat race of raising the next round. The burnout, the "pivots," the vanity metrics pumped up for the next board meeting. The founders weren't free. They'd traded bosses for boards.

In the meantime, I built things on nights and weekends. A front desk app for dog daycares. Never launched. A podcasting app. Never launched.

I still want to build startups. Just not venture backed.

Adventure backed. 😉

So here's the plan. The main goal is freedom: enough revenue to quit the day job. But I want to go on every side quest I can: building small, scrappy businesses that solve problems for real people, learning new skills, and documenting each step along the way. And this time, I'm launching them.
